KARRATHA FAMILY CENTRE

What Karratha Family Centre have to say

"Today’s art and craft with Miss Nikita and Miss Lynda, Creating our own underwater scene on canvas using bubble wrap, paint and for this fish a paint brush. We have used paint on bubble wrap to squish, stamp and press colours onto our canvas to make the ocean style background with colourful coral. Then we used a paintbrush to paint fish into our ocean underwater scene."

What Nikita Spires has  to say

“In my workshops with younger children, I love incorporating playful techniques like bubble wrap printing to create underwater scenes. It’s a really engaging way to introduce texture, pattern and mark-making while keeping the process fun and accessible.

The activity links closely to early years and primary curriculum outcomes, encouraging creativity, sensory exploration and fine motor development. By using hands, tools and different materials, children naturally build hand–eye coordination while experimenting with new ways to create marks.

It’s always amazing to see how something simple and exciting can spark imagination, build confidence and help children connect with art in a meaningful way.”

These outcomes were then consolidated into a unified mural design, ensuring the final piece reflected collective student input while enhancing the school environment with a lasting visual outcome.” Nikita

What Cleethorpes Academy have to say
"The amazing Nikita Spires visited us again last week to see our students wonderful designs come to life in one of our Music classroom. Well done to all the fantastic pupils involved and thank you to Nikita, it looks astonishing! "

What Nikita has to say

"Inspiring the next generation of creatives with this vibrant music-themed mural at @cleethorpesacademy, using their emblematic colours of purple and blue as the base of the mural. The journey started with a design workshop, where students designed their own mural concepts. I then merged elements from each design digitally to create a final composition.

Over 2.5 days, students joined in each morning, using a projector to help sketch out the design and block in the base colors, before I spent the rest of each day bringing it to life. This is the final result!

A huge thank you to the incredibly talented students who contributed and designed this mural, and to @vicky_ford_1990 (for organising and coming up with this mural), who I met at a @franklingrimsby conference event, as well as @createlincs for their ongoing support. I loved every moment of this" project!  #MuralArt #CommunityCreativity #CleethorpesAcademy #MusicMural #PublicArt
