What Is Gyotaku?
Gyotaku originated in Japan in the 1800s as a way for fishermen to record their catches.
Today, it is recognised as a unique art form that preserves the natural detail, texture and character of fish through direct printing.
Each piece is completely authentic — created using the fish itself.

Catch your fish
If you land something special, keep it fresh or freeze it. -
Contact me straight away
I can often come to you in the Karratha / Dampier area, or work from frozen fish. -
Printing process (quick & safe)
The fish is carefully prepared and printed using non-toxic materials. -
Fish is cleaned after
The process does not damage the fish, you can still eat it. -
Studio finishing
I can either come to you at Dampier boat ramp and do the print, ( between 7am-6pm) Please text and call +61 477717065 to arrange, I need a minimum of 30 minutes notice. I then take the print back to the studio to refine details, adding finishing touches to enhance the artwork, your fish print will be ready to collect within 24 hours. Alternatively you can deliver the fish to my studio in Dampier at any time. -
